PP Materials VSP Plastict Vacuum Tray

Vacuum Skin Packaging (or VSP) is a way of packaging food products to maximize shelf life and enhance appearance while minimizing the need for preservatives. VSP works by combining thin, flexible films with prefabricated or in-line formed pallets. The food is located between the two packaging components under vacuum. Laminated VSP Trays are occasionally used, as has been the case for smoked salmon and other fish over the years. At the beginning of the packaging process, the film is softened by heating it to a moderate temperature. Afterwards, a vacuum is used to ensure the Skin Film is completely sealed around the product, securing it securely to the tray or plate, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing, displayable product and packaging that is virtually free of residual oxygen. Depending on the food being packaged, appropriate films will be specified to achieve a range of oxygen barriers - from high barriers, commonly found in red meats and cheeses, to ultra-low barriers (highly breathable), such as fresh seafood.

VSP Trays packaging is freeze-burn resistant, typically uses less packaging material, and these materials typically have a better environmental footprint. Some contain a sizable percentage of recycled content. PP VSP Tray also reduces the need for MAP gases such as Tri-Gas blends to achieve the desired shelf life. EVOH Barrier VSP Tray provides flexibility for retail display and can be hung vertically like a bag or pouch. There are multiple label options and material customizations. For example, in-line trays can be formed at the processor level using colored/pigmented materials, providing marketers with compelling branding options.
