The blades of an axial fan push air in the same direction as the axis.  The impeller of an axial fan is similar to a propeller in that most of the flow of air is parallel to the axis, in other words, along the axis.  When the inlet airflow is free air with zero static pressure, the power consumption of the axial flow fan is the lowest, and when running, the power consumption will increase with the rise of the back pressure of the airflow.  Axial flow fans are usually installed in electrical equipment cabinets, and sometimes integrated into motors.
