A long time ago, people used the simplest way to extract oil, just like using a bucket to lift water in a well, and using a winch to extract oil from an oil well. The original manual extraction method could not be used in these oil wells, so it was gradually eliminated. A method of artificial lift oil recovery came into being. With the continuous development of the oil field, the formation energy is gradually consumed, and the oil well will eventually stop spontaneously blowing. Due to the geological characteristics of the formation, some oil wells cannot spontaneously blow out from the beginning. For the above-mentioned oil wells that cannot self-spray, artificial lift must be used to supplement the oil flow to extract the oil at the bottom of the well. The methods of lifting oil from the bottom of the well to the surface by artificial lift can be divided into two categories: gas lift method and oil pumping method.

In September 1983, the 11th World Petroleum Congress proposed that petroleum is a complex mixture consisting of gaseous, liquid and solid hydrocarbon compounds and a small amount of impurities that exist in nature. Therefore, oil extraction also includes natural gas extraction. Oil extraction refers to the act of digging and extracting oil in places where there is oil storage. In the process of oil extraction, oil and gas flow from the reservoir to the bottom of the well, and then rise from the bottom of the well to the wellhead.
