Lithium Difluoro(oxalato)borate( LiDFOB) is a white powder or white crystalline substance. The structure of LiDFOB  is similar to that of lithium bis(oxalate)borate. The lithium ion has a five fold coordination structure and is easily combined with other molecules to form a regular octahedral coordination structure. In the air, LiDFOB has strong hygroscopicity and forms a hydrate crystal structure.
 
LiDFOB has superior ion conductivity and is widely used as an Electrolyte Additive in lithium-ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries. LiDFOB can improve the ion conductivity of electrolytes and enhance the performance of batteries. It is considered a very important battery material.
 
As a new type of lithium salt, LiDFOB has excellent high-low temperature performance and thermal stability, and can improve the cycling performance and broaden the working temperature window of lithium ion Secondary Battery. LiDFOB can be used as a Film Forming Additive in lithium battery electrolytes to form a good Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI), and can improve the cycling performance and rate performance of the battery over a wide temperature range. As an important lithium salt Battery Additive, LiDFOB is considered the most promising additive to replace lithium hexafluorophosphate(LiPF6).
 
LiDFOB also has a wide range of applications in other electrochemical fields. In energy storage systems, LiDFOB  is mainly used as an electrolyte and combined with other materials to construct high-performance energy storage devices. In lithium air batteries and supercapacitors, LiDFOB  is used as an electrolyte to provide efficient energy storage and release.
