PCR plates manufactured by Yongyue Medical are generally divided into non skirted pcr plates , semi skirted pcr plate and plates with full skirt. Plates without skirt: compatible with most thermal cyclers or qPCR machines, but not suitable for automated applications. Stability is not high during pipetting, and they must be used with a plate holder. semi skirted pcr plate: It can be adapted for labelling or barcode application, is suitable for automated application and has good pipetting stability. Full skirt pcr Plate: Very well suited for automated laboratory applications, but also suitable for labels and barcode applications. Good mechanical strength, suitable for PCR instruments with protruding modules, and high stability during pipetting. For 96 well pcr plate or 384 well pcr plate, the cut corners and labels are based on the functions of the cut corners and labels. Cutting the corners: The choice of the position of the corner cut of the PCR plate depends on the requirements of the matched instrument, which can be well positioned.

Identification: Alphanumeric labelling of PCR plates helps identify individual wells and sample locations. This is usually a raised coloured number logo or an engraved logo. In some automated application experiments, the reaction plate is better sealed with printed markings.

①Why are PCR consumables generally made from PP?

Because PCR/qPCR consumables are usually in direct contact with reagents or samples, and polypropylene (PP) is a biologically inert material that biomolecules do not easily adhere to its surface and has good chemical resistance and temperature tolerance (it can be autoclaved at 121 °C and also withstands temperature fluctuations during temperature cycling).

If the sample volume is small, a single tube or tube strip is preferred. However, when a large reaction volume is required, the single tube is predominant, and the volume can be up to 0.5 ml. Flat cap: Provides accurate fluorescent signal transmission for qPCR and facilitates writing and labeling

Convex cover: It is in contact with the thermal cover of the PCR instrument to reduce the deformation of the reaction tube under pressure; but it affects the transmission of fluorescent signals and cannot be used in qPCR experiments.

②Why are some PCR plate wells protruding and others flat? Which one is better?

The one that fits is the best. There are two types of common PCR plates: flat well edges and raised well edges. Plates with flat well edges fit most thermal cyclers. Reaction plate seals at the well edges for easy sealing, reducing the risk of cross-contamination between samples.

③How to choose PCR tubes/plates with different capacities? 

Selection purpose: to select the appropriate product according to the specific experimental needs. The volume of most PCR tubes can meet the needs of PCR reactions. Based on this, it is recommended to use small volume tubes first. Improved thermal conductivity and reduced evaporation due to the smaller headspace of low volume reactor tubes/plates. At the same time, care should be taken to avoid adding too much or too little when adding samples. Too much can lead to loss of thermal conductivity, spillage and cross-contamination, while too little can lead to sample loss through evaporation.
